How does Ubuntu cope with SSDs?

I've got a Samsung 850 EVO SSD I'm gonna use as my main drive (OS and a few programs) and I'd love to try some linux distro on it. As far as I know Arch requires quite a lot of tweaking to get SSDs perform properly so I'm not even gonna bother reinstalling it. How does Ubuntu cope with them ? I can only find an article (from 2013) that says that Ubuntu doesn't TRIM SSDs by default. Has it changed ever since ?

Also, how much maintenance does it need ? (Yeah, I'm lazy)
